The LEAP program has been canceled this summer 2022 term. It will be offered again in summer 2023.
LEAP - Learning English for Academic Purposes

Are you looking to improve your English skills? Do you want to spend the summer meeting new friends from around the world? Do you want to live in Canada’s capital?
Then LEAP is for you!
The LEAP summer program focuses on practicing English through participation. Through active learning with our highly-qualified instructors you will enhance your English by completing task-based assignments. Students will develop their language skills and acquire intercultural communication skills for everyday life. During this 4-week program, you’ll be fully immersed in an English-speaking environment in Canada’s capital. You’ll have the opportunity to interact inside and outside the classroom with other students coming from all over the world. We’ll give you the tools to LEAP into any conversation in English!
Our goal is to help you:
- Communicate effectively outside the classroom with both native and non-native English speakers
- Complete engaging tasks connected to your everyday life in the community
- Identify, collect, analyze, organize, and document relevant information for a presentation
- Gain confidence speaking English in real world interactions
- Develop strategies for effective reading, writing, listening, and speaking using English
Day Trips

Language practice doesn’t only happen in the classroom! An important, fun part of our program is the activities outside of class. The University of Ottawa campus is perfectly located for a fun-filled summer. Exciting cultural, outdoor, and social activities are right at our doorstep!

Living in Ottawa, Canada's Capital
Ottawa is one of the safest and most beautiful capital cities in the world. A major centre for the visual and performing arts, it offers a wide variety of urban attractions, while maintaining the atmosphere and charm of a smaller centre, with easy access to spectacular parks and wilderness. Visitors can enjoy many of Canada’s best museums, theatres and music festivals, or bike along the city’s many trails and pathways.
